Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
