Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Party
From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party access places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
